From the Casbah website: The Casbah has been open since 1989. Its first location had a legal capacity of 75 and hosted such bands as: Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins, Lemonheads, The Jesus Lizard, and Rocket From The Crypt. In the beginning of '94 we moved just down the road to our larger, plusher quarters and the rest is history. Our "new" location has a capacity of 200+, there is an enclosed smoking patio, a back room featuring pool tables, pinball, the classic video game Galaga, and a full bar. There is also a music room with a full bar and a state-of-the-art sound system. Some of the bands that have played at our current location include: The Touchies, Boss Hog, MGMT, TV on the Radio, Devotchka, Franz Ferdinand, Morphine, The Damned, X, Vampire Weekend, The White Stripes, Death Cab for Cutie, Basement Jaxx, TSOL, The Arcade Fire, The Shins, Band of Horses, The Breeders, Elastica, The Jesus Lizard, TSOL, Gogol Bordello, Cold War Kids, Weezer, Silversun Pickups, Ben Harper, Liz Phair, G Love & Special Sauce, Social Distortion, Flogging Molly, The Cult, and local acts such as Rocket From The Crypt, Drive Like Jehu, Three Mile Pilot, Creedle, the Rugburns, Jewel, The Dragons, Blackheart Procession, Pinback, etc.. |
